Counselling typically addresses emotional or psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship problems. It looks at why you feel or behave the way you do.
Counselling is generally for people experiencing some sort of distress or are struggling to cope.
A counsellor tends to listen, reflect, and help you process your feelings and gain insight.
Counselling can be open-ended or longer-term
Counselling has provide a safe space to think and reflect The sessions are a place that I can escape the day-to-day and find some peace.
I am getting little nuggets that I can use in terms of boundary setting. It's helping to recognise patterns. It's nice to have someone validate what I have been through.
It's helped calm me down a lot. Helped me re-claim things and see things differently. I'm not as agitated / desperate.
Counselling is giving me hope that this can be resolved and I feel better about the situation.
I feel like working through and understanding other people and my reactions / responses help me deal with it better.
It's not completely irradicating the thoughts, but giving me tools to explore them.
It's good to speak to someone who is not family or a friend. It's a space to offload and reflect.
I like being challenged and asked to expand on certain things.
Counselling gives me opportunity to discuss issues that I am having each week.
I have been able to identify trends and have had the realisation that I have to solve problems myself. I'm trying to re-think / see things in different ways instead of my default position.
It's given me tools and things to reflect on. I understand why I feel certain ways in situations. It's allowed the separation of my thoughts and my behaviour.
